The residents have their meals in the cosy, in-house dining hall, and all this in a refreshing atmosphere, not at all reminiscent of a hospital or old people's home.

The concept
The basis is the hotel-like character of the residence, enabling all residents to furnish their apartments entirely according to their own taste. The shower and toilet are practically designed to meet the needs of the elderly and make everyday life easier. The integrated kitchen is ideal for preparing your breakfast or evening meal yourself. Lunch with a selection of menus is included in the price. If you wish, you can of course eat all of your meals in the dining hall and benefit from the flexible opening hours. All apartments are equipped with emergency call buttons: this means that you can contact competent nursing staff in case of need - any time of day, 365 days a year. Residents in need of more care have the option of using the in-house nursing department. The Kursana Residence offers a varied programme of events including music, lectures, readings, films, games, parties or outings. Participation is voluntary and free of charge.
Holiday and rehabilitation

In the Kursana Residence am Spisertor, we have holiday and rehabilitation vacancies. We have cosy, furnished apartments and rooms with among other things telephone and television. Care is guaranteed around the clock by professional staff .
As a rule, catering is full-board either in the residents' dining hall or in the resident's room. The kitchen offers a selection of menus and caters for different dietary needs. Holiday and rehabilitation guests may also participate in the resident's activities programme.

The Kursana Residenz in St.Gallen is unique because it is both more comfortable and distinctive than any other retirement home of its kind in the area. Even though the residence is only a short distance from a lively pedestrian area, the inner courtyard offers greenery, peace and quiet. The residents also appreciate the fact that there is a restaurant and a supermarket within the premises and which contributes to easy living.
You are catered to 365-days a year by a competent and caring staff. We are focused on meeting individual needs and requirements. The concept is for a resident to be able to experience a hotel like atmosphere. There are 52 individual architecturally designed apartments and there is the opportunity to decorate them to your own taste. All apartments are designed for the convenience of senior living and come with a barrier free bathroom.
Feeling safe, secure, and serene:
We endeavour to insure your comfort and that there is a home like atmosphere. Should you require temporarily or constant medical care, there is no need to leave the residence. There is a fully trained staff to attend to you either in your own apartment or on one of the twelve rooms available in the nursing area.

The kitchens in the apartments are ideal to prepare your own breakfast and dinner. The groceries can be bought at the Migros Supermarket, which is located in the same building and can easily be accessed by the elevator. Lunch is included in the rent and consists of four freshly prepared main courses, two of which are vegetarian. If you prefer you can eat all meals in the dining room, which is integrated with the public restaurant that is frequented by the locals an many business people. A comfortable hotel with twelve quiet rooms is available at a reasonable price should your relatives or friends require accommodation. People on business trips and visitors to the town also enjoy staying here.
Varied entertainment, activities and programs throughout the year:
You will have the opportunity to meet people with mutual interests, and can participate in our programs and various activities. There are music lectures, trips, movies, games, cultural meets, and computer courses, to name a few. Most of these events are held in our big conference room on the top floor. The “Giebeltreff” (roof top meeting room) is outfitted with modern technical equipment and is also used as a congress and conference centre for the public.

Hotel quests enjoy their stay in our quiet rooms with the view of the garden. Visitors to the restaurant appreciate our congenial service and the fresh food of the kitchen. Participants of the lectures and meetings feel very comfortable at the “Giebeltreff”. The 70 permanent residents enjoy all the varied activities offered an the residence. The Kursana Residenz am Spisertor is in high demand as a retirement home since we are a very proactive place. Here the permanent residents do not have the feeling of being pushed aside to an old age home, rather that they are in the middle of the action. They enjoy the coming and goings of the hotel guests and being able to participate in the different programs the hotel has to offer. The elevator takes them to the restaurant or to the supermarket on the main floor. The attractive traffic free pedestrian zone of down town St.Gallen is also within a short easy walk.

Our guests have the opportunity to park their cars directly in the residence. We are one of the very few buildings in St.Gallen with 52 public under ground parking spaces. Since we are geared to the elderly, we are wheelchair accessible. From the underground parking and the main entrance our guests have direct access to the elevator, which takes them to the reception desk or un to the conference room on the top floor. We regularly horst public seminars with the main focus on health and well being and personal growth. The organizers and the producers of the various activities appreciate the homey atmosphere of the room, the beautiful view of the city and of course our restaurant.
Service and Kitchen of the Kursana Residenz and Hotel-Restaurant am Spisertor:
Due to the individual preferences of the permanent residents it is normal for ous well-experienced and trained staff to attend to individual personal needs. The staff for instance knows what kind of salads and dressings the residents prefer and serve it accordingly. Our hotel guests are impressed with the warmth and friendliness or our staff. Our customers are always pleasantly surprised that changes or substitution within the daily menus create no problems for us and there is no surcharge.
Diet:
Our guests will be accommodated if they need a special diet and will not be made to feel as an outsider. There are specially trained cooks who can produce dietary menus for our guests with food allergies, for instance Celiac disease. The cooks will prepare special meals and make their own gluten free pasta for the celiac.
Another strength of the restaurant is our vegetarian menu. It accounts for 30 percent of our meals served. Besides our 2 daily meat and fish menus, we offer 2 vegetarian meals. We have attracted many regular luncheon guests with the vegetarian menu.
Banquette Facilities:
As a day restaurant, we usually close at 7.00pm. However, with parties of 20 people or more, we are flexible with our menus and are willing to open the restaurant in the evening. Our chef Ratko Danilovic and the chief of service Britta Anliker, will negotiate with the organizers the menus for our banquette patrons and arrange appropriate time schedules. Individual groups are always impressed how attentive and friendly our staff is and how well organized the events are.
Prices
The prices of apartments and nursing rooms in the Kursana Residence am Spisertor are clearly defined and include all elements of the rent, care and nursing, entertainment and animation, security and catering in the restaurant.
The prices vary considerably since pricing takes the location, size and furnishings in the apartment into consideration. The exceptional thing about the Kursana Residence is that all 52 apartments and 12 nursing rooms have differing layouts.
Residence:

You pay rent, incidental charges (such as, for example, night-time security checks by Securitas staff), care and animation, administration, cleaning of both your apartment and the grounds as well as lunch (a choice of menus including drinks) in our restaurant.

Nursing department:
